My Story
I grew up with Carolina clay under my fingernails and the sound of cicadas humming through the long summer evenings. North Carolina has always been more than a place to me — it's been a teacher, a storyteller, and sometimes, a mirror. After graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, I spent many years focused on the most important work of my life: raising my two children. Those years taught me the value of patience, resilience, and unconditional love — lessons that quietly wove themselves into the fabric of my writing, even before I ever called myself a writer. Today, I live in Charlotte, NC with my husband and our sweet pup, Maisie. We split our time between the city and the salt-air shores of Folly Beach, SC, where the marsh seems to whisper old stories if you’re willing to listen long enough. Writing, for me, started the way most good things do — quietly, persistently, and a little unexpectedly. Heart of the Green Leaf began as a handful of memories and emotions I couldn’t quite let go of. It grew into a novel that explores the complicated beauty of family, the weight of history, and the silent struggles we often carry beneath the surface. I write for young teens finding their voice, for women remembering where they came from, and for anyone who believes that even the hardest stories can still bloom with hope. Every page I write is rooted in the South — its rich landscapes, its tangled histories, and its endless capacity for resilience. Thank you for stopping by. I hope you find something here that feels a little like coming home. |
